Robespierre is a role name in "The Scarlet Pimpernel", was baced on the historical person. In this TV mini series, as a making book says, Robespierre is draw as a role of the villain like the original novel, full of ambition, and loses his temper easily. Ronan plays the role with marvellous performance.

THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL

"The Scarlet Pimpernel" was a program on BBC 1999-2000. The first series #1-3 (1999) and the second one #4-6 (2000) are hardly the same programs, The title role Richard E. Grant and Ronan Vibert continued to play the role, however Elisabeth McGovern and Martin Shaw didn't play in #4-6.
That point make Ronan stand out, though. Especially #6 is superb, Ronan perform perfectly complicated/mixed emotion holding person: Robespierre.

#1 THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL

Chauvelin (Martin Shaw) suspect the Pimpernel should be an English aristocrat. He visits England and meets again a French actress Marguerite (Elizabeth McGovern) and her lord sir Percy Blakeney (Richard E. Grant). Marguerite is Chauvelin's former lover and she'd been work as his fellow member.

#2 VALENTIN GAUTIER

The Scarlet Pimpernel (Richard E. Grant) goes back to France to rescue the daughter of a French nobleman. Chauvelin (Martin Shaw) is sent by Robespierre (Ronan Vibert), but he captured by the leader of a rebeldom and meets the girl who the Pimpernel is looking for.
